BRIAN WILL WORK TO CREATE AND PROTECT

Born and raised in Southern West Virginia, Brian Helton learned the values of hard work, dedication, and a life of faith.  During his early life he was a high school basketball star and paid his way through college, in Dayton, TN with a BA of science in Administration, with a basketball scholarship and by working summers in the lumber yards in Raleigh County.

 

“My parents always taught me that in order to get what you want, you have to put forth that extra effort, Dad would always make finish the chores before I was allowed to go play ball, go fish/hunt or anything else. That’s definitely something that has always stuck with me, that hard work comes before we can accomplish anything.”

 

“During high school and college in the summers, I would get up at 5am to do my basketball workouts, go work 10 hours at the lumber yard and come back that night to play in the summer league in Beckley”. The example of my Dad working so hard at his business along with seeing my Uncles go to work in the mines made a big impression on my work ethic.”

 

Brian is a long-time entrepreneur. He has started and managed many successful businesses and created thousands of jobs in the process. He has owned businesses and worked in the coal industry, trucking industry, real estate development, telecommunications, and the construction industry.  He currently owns and operates one of the largest trucking companies in West Virginia, is a General Contractor and a Real Estate Developer. Now, Helton is ready to use his business background to represent Southern WV in Charleston. 

 

He and Emilee, his wife of 33 years, raised their family on their farm near Mount Hope where they have cattle and horses. 

 

Brian is well known for giving back as a coach and community leader. He has coached basketball for many years from youth basketball to high school. He has served multiple times on school boards.
